Well I found something new about myself today.

Many people have heard me refer to myself as a Euro-mutt because of the mix of ethnicities in my family.

German, Greek, Welsh, English, Scottish, Irish (There's the UK), and now I have found out that I am possibly Jewish as well.

According to my grandmother my Aunt has found a link to one of the lost tribes of Isreal or something like that. Apparently a great-great-great grandmother or so forth was a french Jew.

This has me wondering if I should add french to my ancestery as well. Too bad we haven't found any romanian because that would have been cool.

I need an Alex/Izzie fic. Badly. Something to get my mind off the fact that George and Izzie have admited love. Or at least that is what I have been told. And it sounds like Greys at the moment.

So does anyone know a good Alex/Izzie fic I can find that takes place in the later half of season 3?

In France, incest is not a crime. Incestuous relations between a parent and minor child are prohibited and punished by law, but not between adults.

Hmm..Just thought that was interesting to note.

I'm researching for a HP fic. Since all the Purebloods are related to each other, I wanted to know how far one would have to be for it not to be incest. Appparently the most common law states that it's illegal for first cousins and closer relations. But I'm not sure if that means first cousins or first cousins once removed etc. I'm just going to concider all teh removes as part of that.

Basically I have one character (Zara Black) and I'm planning on having her invoved with a distant relative (Fred Weasley). Looking at the chart, they are either fourth cousins or fifth cousins. I'm leaning on fourth cousins. This means that legally they would not be considered incest. It might actually be enough genetic diversity to not be inbreeding either but I can't find anything yet on how far you have to be.

Ginny Weasley and Draco Malfoy are fourth cousins as well.

Again, this is all by Wiki so I'm not sure how relaible I can base this, but it soudns about right.

Sirius adn Tonks are cousins once removed.

Also by this information, it seems it would explain why purebloods usually have low numbers of children (besides the Weasleys and Blacks, most appear to have one child but that could be just because it isn't important to know if Pansy Parkinson or Marcus Flint have siblings) and why the Black family seems to have a shorter then normal life expectancy.

I haven't found a previous mention of a Malfoy-Black marriage so I have no idea how close a relation Lucius and NArcissia are. For all we know, the Malfoy and Black families could have been the last to intermarry.

Here is where I found info at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_intermarriage (because I think this relates to what the Purebloods due in a sense).

(apparently third cousins are considered unfit to marry...so Ginny/Draco is safe in the eyes of the Cathlic church:))

Fourth cousins and beyond share no more consanguinity to each other than any two individuals taken at random, even if there is a documented most recent common ancestor.

HA! Take that for those who kept telling me I was wrong to ship Draco/Ginny cause they were cousins!

That was found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cousin_couple

And here is what I go by to determine how far away they are as far as the tree is concerned: http://www.hp-lexicon.org/wizards/blackfamilytree.html

ah. Well, sorry about Spoiling you. I know it's late now but I put up an lj-cut around that to make sure no one else gets spoiled just in case.
